This series contains minutes of the association's meetings, lists of athletic award winners and lettermen, notices of future meetings, the Athletic Association's constitution and bylaws, rules for recipients of letters, and appointments of officers. The book also includes one copy of the Sherman Institute "Bulletin" for 1932 which contains an article listing students awarded letterman status. These records document the performance of the athletic teams and individuals participating in a variety of sports, but most significantly football, track and field, and baseball.

The Sherman Institute was established in 1900, as a successor to the Perris Indian School (Perris, Calif.), after the water supply to the previous school was deemed insufficient. By 1901 a site in the city of Riverside was selected, at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Jackson Street. On July 19, 1901, the cornerstone was laid for the new school building of Sherman Institute, and the school officially opened on September 9, 1902.
